Can I just start by saying that I'm extremely grateful to have friends that are as fun, spontaneous, and creative as I could wish for? Towards the end of January on a Monday in Ames, Iowa, the only thing I'm usually doing is sitting in class or studying. However, thanks to these lovely ladies, I had an impromptu day of exploring outside of central campus (shoutout to Maddie Leopardo behind the camera and Nikki Timmerman for being my partner in crime).
"What's in Iowa? Are you going to be a corn farmer?" Those were basically the top two questions I would sarcastically get asked when I said I was coming to Iowa State University in the fall of 2016. People think Iowa is literally just one giant cornfield... they're not entirely wrong (there are a lot of cornfields), but in all seriousness, Ames and Des Moines are pretty entertaining. Obviously they're not big cities like New York or even Chicago, but they are still super cute and eclectic areas where you can find adventure if you look around hard enough.
With the right friends and a decent knowledge of where we were going, we turned a Monday of what I thought was going to be laying in bed watching Netflix to a Monday of running around, sipping lattes, brainstorming up a photoshoot in the middle of our dorm room, and experiencing a whole lot of laughter and love.
Creative minds are a lovely thing and I always get excited when I meet someone who has a unique sense of self. Nikki, Maddie, and I transformed our dorm from a normal college residence to a knockoff Urban Outfitters ad. Get experimental and use your imagination to create something new and fun.
